Windy City Whirlwind

Oh, the Windy City.  Classically American with much to offer.  Sometimes the best trips are those that are short and packed with activities (i.e., most of my trips).  This whirlwind of a trip was just that but its focus was eating and music...

Day 1: Ralph Lauren restaurant.  Beautiful bar.  Beautiful library.  Beautiful dinner.

Followed by jazz at the Green Mill.

Day 2: Back-to-back taste test between Al's Beef (winner for Chicago dog) and Portillo's (winner for Italian beef).  Disgusting and delicious.

Obligatory (the beau's first trip to Chicago) and still-engaging architectural tour.

Shopping on Miracle Mile.  Lots of miracles indeed.

Day 3: Coffee after run along Chicago River at our hotel, Hotel Palomar.

Attempt - and I do mean attempt because I did not make it more than a block - a bike ride.  Crowded Chicago streets + heavy mountain bike = death trap.  I should have known when they handed me a helmet instead of a bike with a basket.  Don't judge me.

After failed bike ride, deep-dish pizza from Lou Malnati's (beats previously tried Gino's East and Giordano's).  Ok, now judge me.

Zoom off in a cab to the airport before the storm really hits.

'Til next time, Chi-town!
